Approach
Resilience is the ability to recover from adversity. Every person has the innate capacity to view difficult experiences as opportunities to adapt and grow.
Whether you’re seeking therapy to address serious trauma, to work through the challenges of transition, or to cope with the stresses of daily living, beginning the process of therapy is itself an act of resilience.
My approach is individualized and relationship-based, which means that each treatment is different depending on the issues you want to address, your desired outcomes, and the ways that you and I interact. What you put into the process greatly affects what you get out of it. Your treatment can be as goal-directed or investigative as you choose.
Depending on your current needs, sessions following the initial assessment may include these or other treatment interventions:
- exploration of your concerns
- psychological education
- stress reduction exercises
- referrals to other providers
- resources
- play therapy (for children and families)
- crisis planning
What remains consistent is my focus on engaging people in a partnership to develop new perspectives on distressing matters. In most cases, my goal is to help you increase your internal resources and ability to enjoy life. I approach psychotherapy with respect, humor, keen perception, and an ability to make authentic connections with my patients.
